In contrast, the teraphim, used primarily in the north, are grouped with the forbidden forms of divination, such as necromancy and consultation with spirits. WebDivination presupposes that the divine communicates with the human. This communication takes both human and divine initiative. Inductive techniques depend on human initiation. The Bible supposes that a priority rests on revelatory forms (dream, vision, oracle) rather than on inductive ones (Urim/ Thummim, ephod).
