The problem with swapping a 4BT is that they are very tall from the bottom of the pan to the top of the valve cover. The issue with VW and Mercedes engines is what Transmission are you going to hook up to them. If you are looking for best choice for a CJ the 3.3 Cummins would be a better swap but are much harder to find.
